Fanshawe turned to Waste Solutions Canada for the implementation of Smart Sensor technology and a procurement strategy to optimize service and reduce waste costs. Placed on specific bins throughout the campus, Smart Sensors enabled remote monitoring of bin waste levels, providing real-time information to eliminate bin overflow and ensure only as-needed waste pickup and charges.
The Impact
Waste Solutions Canada’s addition of Smart Sensor technology on bins at Fanshawe presented an effective accommodation for seasonal fluctuations in waste and recycling levels. With technology in place to provide real-time insights, aligning procurement with demand became simple and ultimately resulted in lowered rates and surcharges.
